ReplyDeleteWith a view to buying a share of Marlin 30-30 lever so it can be a bit biased. The best answer I can give is that it is "fun" is a relative term. Some say they are driven to run like a donkey to one 444 or 500 Nitro Express is "fun". I say affects how much fun it every time you shoot.
ReplyDeleteFrom my experience, 44 mag rifle has less recoil than the 30-30. The 44Mag was a cycle of decline in firearms designed so low was a kind of test.
The 30-30 is probably more popular, the ammo is cheaper, and the trajectory of the ball will be better than 44Mag, especially if you go with light bullets like Hornady Lever Evolution cycles (there are more choices of bullet weights for 30-30) . On the other hand, if you hit something with the 44Mag, damaged it, 44Mag have more energy within 100 meters of 30-30. For me, the placement of the ball is more important than power shot, then choose the 30-30.
For pigs, or 50 meters would be fired, I go with a 44mAG. For deer and more than 100 rounds of court, 30-30, to provide better service.

ReplyDeleteHowever, guns are shooting a lever damned, my favorite action after only 2 shots. The Rifle 44 Mag is a windbag, the 30-30 is not much worse. If you have a .44, but a heavier load, get a .444 Marlin. Even ball an inch of additional capacity and a little more distance. Much more energy efficient.
The 30-30 is the best round, but I like the size 44 games like the only way, because I have 44 Ruger handguns, without carrying out two types of ammunition. That may be 44 should go hunting at 200 yrds and 44 may be cheaper to shoot.

ReplyDeleteOh mate get the 44mag.I have a Marlin 1984 in 44Mag I think it's a fucking fire !!!!! It's cheap and fun versatility. It works well at all. 100% 44Mag!
